Adoption Policy

 

At Petite Paws Pet Rescue, we are dedicated to finding safe, loving, and permanent homes for every dog in our care. Our adoption process ensures that each match sets both the pet and their new family up for a happy, successful life together.

1. Adoption Requirements

  • Adopters must be 21 years or older with a valid photo ID.

  • All members of the household must consent to the adoption.

  • Renters must provide written landlord approval allowing pets.

  • Current pets must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations, unless medically exempt.

  • A home visit (in person or virtual) may be required.

2. Application Process

  • All adopters must complete our adoption application truthfully and in full.

  • Applications are reviewed based on what is best for the animal.

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or placement of a specific dog.

  • We reserve the right to deny any application at our discretion.

3. Matching Pets with the Right Homes

  • We evaluate each dog’s personality, energy level, behavior, and medical needs when reviewing applications.

  • If your preferred dog isn’t a match, we may suggest others who better suit your lifestyle and experience.

4. Adoption Fees

  • Adoption fees help cover vet care, food, transportation, and daily needs.

  • All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed.

  • Fees are non-refundable and vary based on the dog’s age and medical history.

5. Post-Adoption Commitment

  • Dogs adopted from us are to be family companions only — not for breeding, resale, or guarding purposes.

  • If you can no longer care for your dog, you must return them to us — no exceptions.

  • Rehoming, surrendering to shelters, or giving the dog away is strictly prohibited.

6. Lifelong Support

  • We offer guidance and resources after adoption, including behavior tips and vet referrals.

  • If an adoption doesn’t work out, we will always take the dog back — no judgment, no questions asked.
